BLEACH* FESTIVAL, SURFERS PARADISE ALLIANCE AND GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY PRESENT FUN RUN
Fun Run is a joyously wild community spectacle that pushes one man to the limits of his endurance.
“This is not just a piece of entertainment that is pure spectacle, it is much, much more. To run a marathon requires focus, determination and commitment.”– Bleach* Festival Artistic Director Louise Bezzina
When the Greek messenger Pheidippides was sent to Athens to announce the defeat of the Persian army in the battle of Marathon, he ran the entire distance without stopping, burst into the Athenian assembly, delivered the news and died on the spot. Fun Run is his story.
In homage to Pheidippides, our fearless hero and artist Tristan Meecham runs a gruelling 42.2 kilometres on a treadmill live on stage supported by hundreds of community performers and athletes, a cheeky emcee, a fleet of Fun Run dancers, a booming soundtrack and some very special Gold Coast guests.
A free event for the whole family, Fun Run has it all – dazzling lycra, shiny muscles, bouncing pom poms and a massive Fun Run flash mob that everyone can participate in. Full of heart pumping action – stay, play and dance your way through the whole event.
Will Tristan hit the wall or complete his quest?
