There aren’t many musicians who could sporadically release a track once every few years and still be as revered as the day they first shot to fame, but for Sydney artist Matt Corby, it’s proving to be no problem.
Two years on from his last EP release ‘Resolution’, and four years since the release of ‘Into The Flame’ (featuring ‘Brother’), the musician has once again demonstrated why he is an unshakable force in the Australian music scene.
Just like previous hits, ‘Monday’ has all of the trademarks of a Matt Corby song: wailing falsettos, soulful storytelling and the smooth slide between soft and harsh. Unlike other tracks however, ‘Monday’ focuses solely on the musician’s voice. Interestingly, ‘Monday’ was in fact created entirely from Corby’s vocals, using only sounds produced by his body to create the percussion and backing. If this track is anything to go by, we’re very excited to hear what else he has in store!
